Speedometer incorrect reading

Quick question
Driving to work this morning & speedometer is giving a false reading
( won’t go over 40mph)
Car drives fine with no warning lights
Any ideas
Was thinking defective speed sensor wire

Few other issues I’ve noticed is the odometer is reading wrong
Journey to work is 9 miles but only registers 3 miles
Fuel gauge is displaying quarter tank but is saying only 25 miles to empty & cruise control flicks on then goes straight off
